Description

Like most PA speakers, this speaker occupies M8 rigging points and a 50-degree rear corner angle. This allows the speaker to double as a floor monitor. The speaker also allows freedom for mixing facilities. For example, in case of a simple job, the speaker has to be used in a stand-alone mode.

The new DBR series makes the technology from Yamaha’s established DXR speakers available at an even more wallet–friendly price. An angle of 90 degrees’ horizontal and 60 degrees’ vertical is used for horn coverage. The base of the cabinet body comprises a 35mm pole mount. The body itself is molded and has a top handle, which is carefully placed. I had been planning to get the DXR10s but took a chance on the DBRs -- which are 1/3 cheaper. Although I think the DXRs would be a bit more versatile and capable of filling a larger room with sound, for my purposes I'm glad I saved the money. (I could've saved a little more by skipping the sub and going with a pair of DXR15s, but then I would've lost grab-and-go versatility.) The horn coverage angle is specified as 90 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical. The main body of the cabinet is moulded and includes a sensibly placed top handle, as well as the expected 35mm pole mount in the base. Yamaha tell us that the DBR series of speakers, of which the DBR10 is the smallest, benefits from the transducer, amplifier and DSP technologies developed for Yamaha’s more upmarket DSR and DXR ranges. If you need something larger than this one, then there are 12–inch and 15–inch models in the range. The DBR10 has a frequency response of 55Hz to 20kHz.DBR Series speakers feature an optimized 50 degrees wedge angle for floor monitoring. In addition the DBR12 and DBR15's symmetrical shape allows for effortless configuration of a mirror-mode floor monitoring system in either symmetrical or stereo sound field setups. Easy-to-use Onboard 2-Channel Mixer Compared these with DXR8's, DXR10's, K8's, and K10's in both playing music through them and using them live with both band situations and solo acoustic environments. They are every bit the speaker that I compared them too. Are there slight nuances that are different? Of course... every speaker has its own characteristic. That being said the new DBR series speakers will provide you the same sonic experience as DXR series Yamaha's and the K series QSC's with a little less power and plastic rather than metal exteriors. (in other words, they will scratch easier) Efficient, lightweight, and incredibly versatile. The Yamaha DBR10 boasts a high-performance Class-D amplifier that can deliver up to 700-watts of thunderous power. Combined custom-designed transducers, including a 10'' high-output woofer and precise 1'' compression driver, the DBR10 is capable of pumping out a hefty maximum SPL of 129dB. Perfect for filling your room with crystal clear sound with outstanding dynamic characteristics. With state-of-the-art DSP and technologies from Yamaha's professional DSR and DXR series, you have pure high-resolution sound that is suitable for any output level. In addition to their standard two-year warranty, Yamaha are now offering an extension of an extra two years when you register your product with your Yamaha Music ID within six months of purchasing it. Yamaha are so confident in this system that they offer a 4 YEAR WARRANTY on the DBR speakers! Here's what Yamaha say about the DBR10 Active PA Speaker:

It is because Yamaha is expensive in general. However, using a reliable brand such as Yamaha when purchasing a speaker is better . The company has also managed to keep most of the features in this low-price series. Yamaha DBR10 Sound Quality: My only real complaint was I'd like to see the handle modified so that it's not just a slot but something you can grip like a handle. If you have strong fingers this isn't a problem but I'm older (64) and it's not as easy for me. Yeah, that's a wussie complaint but heh, fingers aren't as strong as they used to be. High-Efficiency 1000W Class-D Amplifiers - The DBR's lightweight, high performance Class-D amplifier is capable of producing up to 1000W* of power, achieving an SPL of 132dB, delivered with remarkable clarity and dynamic characteristics.A Rugged, Highly Portable Cabinet - DBR Series speakers feature a compact, lightweight, and durable plastic cabinet which offers the highest level of portability of all Yamaha powered speakers. The sleek steel grille bolsters cabinet durability and protects the internal components while a newly designed ergonomic handles provide effortless transportation and system setup.
