Tendremos un cambio de escenario más que necesario, con ello la autora le da más vida y posibilidades a este mundo tan increíble que ha creado, donde una pandemia asola todo el reino. Los personajes que crean empatía al lector y es muy fácil meterse en su piel, todo ello ayudado por una narrativa en primera persona; y no os preocupéis que la autora al comienzo de cada capítulo nos dice quién va a narrar en esa ocasión, porque los capítulos se alternan entre los personajes.

And the ending, those last words….this is torture… how a normal human being can patiently wait for at least one year to read the next book! Have a mercy on us dear Brigid Kemmerer and bring us a new book ASAP! Istg I was the edge of my goddamn seat throughout the last few chapters! Like… the twists and turns once again had my jaw on the FLOOR!!! Especially the ending. I‘m not okay and I won’t be okay, until I know how it’ll end!!! The plot, the romance, the main characters, the side characters, the world… just everything was sooooo well done!! The writing was also once again amazing! Brigid Kemmerer is a true genius. She just knows how to write incredible YA, fantasy books!! That said, I’d probably also call it a crossover because Brigid Kemmerer has written other young adult novels and has a pretty significant (well-deserved) following among YA readers.

The side characters were also all so interesting!! Hope they‘ll continue to play a big role in the next book! Especially Rian! I‘m kinda invested in his past and story and why he is the way he is! He‘s a very intriguing character!! Him and Tessa really had my heart aching, breaking and healing all at once! I can’t believe that people aren’t talking that much about them!! They‘re literally so adorable and had me on freaking knees fr!!! Like the tension, banter and chemistry these two had?!?! Ugh… amazing!! Love them sooooo much!! Lochlan also is on the ship alongside three guards as a goodwill of Harristan even though Lochlan thinks this is a trap to kill him and throw his corpse to the sea. Defend the Dawn is the second book in the Defy the Night series and all I can say is I definitely need book 3, right now. Talk about a cliffhanger of an ending.

THE POLITIVAL MANEUVERING and scheming in this was top-notch! Seriously, Brigid Kemmerer feels like a genius for coming up with this 😆 Especially in the second half of the book, I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for everything to connect and come together.This was just absolutely EVERYTHING!!! I just loved each and every second I was reading this book! Literally flew through it like it was nothing! It was addicting, captivating and interesting throughout it all!! This series deserves so much more hype! I don’t get how people aren’t gushing about it on booktok?!?! Like it’s AMAZING!!! Maybe Brigid Kemmerer should have just cut out any attempts to make it a fantasy and just be a romance with very complex characters, because that’s basically what this book is anyways. Tessa is really showing her naivete in this book. It’s not exactly a “fault”, because from how and where she was raised and what we know of her from the first book I don’t expect her to be some political savant and amazing at reading other people. BUT, sometimes, I wanted to sit her down and ask her to please not be so trusting of what people say at face value. To ask more pointed questions and to consider what a person has to gain or lose that may make them act a certain way before jumping to judgments. Good grief.
