An unmissable tale of lost empire, enemies-to-lovers romance, political intrigue and forbidden magic. There are also so many many plot twists in this book, including revelations about the world and the past the Juliette and Warner have.

He hasn’t been able to resolve how he feels about his father and this scene pretty much sets things in stone. My heart hurts for Emmaline and what they did to her mind and body 💔😭 I wish they found a way for her to live. Now I feel like they actually have potential and I can’t wait to see their relationship bloom even more in Imagine Me. Particularly in the reuniting scene and with Juliette’s biological parents, I think the writing veered toward dry and boring because it left out any unique descriptions that would make those scenes more vivid or meaningful. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. She was born in a small city somewhere in Connecticut and currently resides in Santa Monica, California, with her husband, Ransom Riggs, fellow bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, and their young daughter.

lol* Anyway, I still enjoyed it and even though I’m worried about the last book I’ll still read it, because I really hope that Mafi will be able to tie everything up with a nice bow. But seriously the way Aaron loves her is everything and he went through everything to get her back safe. All of them agree that they need to watch the plane, and Kenji and Warner take the first watch, so they go into the cockpit, where Kenji tells Warner about movies and romance. I liked Julliete's character development in this one more because now she knows the truth about her powers and her past and which made her more strong in many ways.Suddenly, the plane’s engines are shot out, and Ella comes up with a plan–Nazeera can fly, and Warner can use Nazeera’s powers to help them fly as well. Also, I know that Warner says he considers their residence in 241 a new beginning free from obligation and the beginning of a new life, but it’s such an unceremonious, boring place. That’s the backstory I care about, not about their five year old selves having dinner together or whatever.

The difference is, whereas all the other Shatter Me books’ good parts outweighs any bad that exists, this book had so many terrible scenes and lines of dialogue that were not be redeemed by the sparse action and melodramatic romance scenes.

But with that being said, Mafi does touch on the type of people that Juliette parents and at times the flashbacks were relevant as they showed how corrupt The Reestablishment was.

Synopsis: (via Goodreads) “The gripping fifth installment in the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling Shatter Me series. Review in a Nutshell: Defy Me is a fascinating new installment in the Shatter Me universe that has me so excited for the next book! And she was nothing to them just an experiment and they never ever treated her and Emmaline as human. While it may not be the thrilling, action-packed book I expected, I can’t wait to see where it goes next.I mean I’m pretty sure about 90% of my friends on here would say I’m a funny and cheerful person, but that doesn’t mean that I’m always like that. Instead, we get what I think was a two week time skip and no interactions between Evie and Juliette. And of course, Nazeera and Kenji’s blooming relationship (I couldn’t stop laughing when Ian told Kenji to have some fun since the world was on fire, and also Nazeera’s/Kenji’s reactions to being given one room to share).
