Description

All in all, this is a great option for an AIO water cooler. It has a small footprint, so you’ll be able to install it in most towers, and it’s highly durable due to the quality of its components. The included 5-year warranty is also a welcome sight. Overall, the EK AIO D-RGB represents good value. The Liquid Freezer II features a completely new, PWM-controlled pump design, which offers improved efficiency with low power usage and quiet operation. Arctic says the new Liquid Freezer II pump ensures an ideal ratio of a high CPU cooling performance and a low noise level. Radiator Dimensions: 157 x 119.6 x 27mm / 6.2 x 4.7 x 1.1” | Fan Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25mm / 4.7 x 4.7 x 1” | Fan Speed: 650 ~ 2000 RPM +/- 10 % | Noise Volume: 6 ~ 30 dBA | Warranty: 2 years The nature of a review cycle (while a product is relevant) typically dictates that there’s no means to realistically test for endurance or age. We can revisit in the future if needed, but that’s the only question mark left after the review process: Arctic’s pump design is new, something we’ll look at in our tear-down video coming up shortly, and a new design means we have no reference point for endurance and reliability. In general, liquid coolers outlive the usable life of the system, and potentially two systems, but those that fail do so in a much more visible or catastrophic fashion. Failures are overall rare, however, and that’s always important to note. We’ll send you to our Air vs. Liquid cooler content for more of an explanation on this front. If you’re familiar with 120 mm AIOs, you’re probably wondering why a couple of popular CPU coolers from Corsair and NZXT aren’t on our list. While they’re still decent AIOs, we feel that they’re a lot harder to recommend in 2021. Let’s discuss why.Radiator Dimensions: 152 x 120 x 32mm / 6.0 x 4.7 x 1.3” | Fan Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25mm / 4.7 x 4.7 x 1” | Fan Speed: 500 ~ 2000 RPM +/- 300 | Noise Volume: 21 ~ 36 dBA | Warranty: 3 years

Additionally, the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 120 features an optimized water pump for more efficiency and better acoustics. This pump is able to run at lower-than-usual speeds when idle and scales up depending on cooling requirements. Because of this, the Liquid Freezer II is silent at idle and uses less power than other pumps, making it one of the quietest 120mm AIO coolers on the market today. All in all, the Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 is one of the top 120mm AIO coolers on the market. It keeps pace with many larger coolers due to its oversized radiator and hoses. While the price is steep, the Corsair is a great deal and is perfect for someone with a powerful machine but limited space in their tower. The Corsair H60’s main problem is how loud it is. Its 52 dBA of noise makes it difficult to recommend in light of newer, quieter AIOs. The SilverStone PF120-ARGB, for example, is about 16 dBA quieter at its maximum fan speed. It’ll still do a decent job cooling a modern mid-tier CPU, but it’s not one we’d recommend over newer, quieter AIOs.

Not a big deal since laying the board flat on the table bypasses it, but this could be even easier if Arctic refined the solution with cap screws. On the installation front, buyers should also be aware of the short cables for the fans. They can be connected to the splitter cable (which is sleeved alongside the tubes), but we prefer connecting our fans directly to the motherboard to exercise more control over the fans. This is easily solved with some 4-pin-to-4-pin extension cables. Conclusion Altogether, this Thermaltake 120mm AIO is an incredible cooler. You won’t find a cooler with more RGB LED support if that happens to be your thing. You’ll have tons of customization options for those lights as well.

Arctic Liquid Freezer 120 Review

That doesn’t mean a 120 mm AIO cooler is entirely irrelevant, however. Let’s discuss that next. Are 120 mm AIOs Worth It?

The mid-level price is attractive for folks that aren’t looking to break the bank and can deal with a less-than-stellar-looking cooler. Corsair also offers a 5-year warranty should something go awry with it. All in all, the flaws with this all-in-one cooler are minimal, and the performance and quality are top-of-the-line. Time to move to VRM thermals. Before putting this chart up, a few important points: First, this is all relative, so our measurement points aren’t designed to test the motherboard, but rather to test the cooling capabilities of the CPU cooler on top of it. We’re taking VRM measurements at points that will work better for testing cooler impact, since we don’t care about comparative VRM performance from one board to the next. Second, we’ll show the numbers with the radiator mounted to the side of the bench. That’s how we tested all the liquid coolers so far, as it is more similar to a top-mounted radiator in a case. This means there’s always airflow over the VRM heatsink in all the CLC tests, whereas testing it on the table, away from the VRM, would paint a picture of Arctic’s VRM fan having a higher relative impact since you’d be taking away all cooling otherwise. We have these numbers too, but let’s focus on 3950X OC numbers at 35dBA radiator fan speed first, with the Arctic VRM fan at 100%. The test is also tough to standardize since every motherboard will have different heatsinks and positioning, so although you can mostly extrapolate out a hierarchy, it’s not perfectly comparable to every configuration. And again, please also remember that case configuration is the single most impacting to VRM thermal performance outside of the VRM design and cooling solution. What we’re saying is that this test will create an objective hierarchy, but that in all reality, a couple degrees here-and-there from the cooler won’t really matter much when considering the VRM is unlikely to melt itself in the majority of instances. Unfortunately, the software requires a Facebook or Google account to save profiles, but you can run it in guest mode if you refuse to link a profile because you’re concerned about how NZXT handles your information. You just won’t be able to save your settings. The Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2 takes aim at coolers with much larger form factors. With its extra-large radiator and dual-fan combination, this 120mm AIO certainly punches above its weight class. If you don’t have the space but need the cooling performance, you’ll love this Corsair cooler. Differences in testing methodology undoubtedly have something to do with this inconsistency. That said, the main takeaway is that 120 mm AIOs aren’t consistently better than air CPU coolers. This makes the disadvantages of a liquid cooler, such as the risk of catastrophic failure and limited service life due to permeation, harder to accept. On the software side of things, the Corsair H60 doesn’t support Corsair Link, so you’ll have to configure the cooler via BIOS. This is marginally disappointing, given the cost of this AIO. Quality-wise, this ASUS AIO is great. The pump is made completely out of aluminum, while the cold plate is highly-conductive copper. Its hoses are sleeved in nylon and are incredibly durable. You’ll be very impressed with the quality of the Strix LC 120. All things considered, this AIO cooler is beautifully designed but just a little bit flawed. You can find better cooling functionality for less money, even in the 120mm class. NZXT also offers a 6-year warranty, which is the longest manufacturer warranty offered on this list. For this cooler to be a good deal, you’ll have to love the look of the infinity RGB. But if that’s you, this cooler is well-made and features a warranty that makes it a worthy investment.
